FocalBlade 1.05 is a plug-in that lets you sharpen your photos for enhancing the screen display and print as well as produce great looking blur, soft focus and glow effects. FocalBlade is a Photoshop-compatible plugin which can be used in dozens of graphics applications including Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, PhotoImpact, Photo-Paint, Fireworks and Photoshop Elements, both under Windows and MacOS X. This plug-in also runs natively in Photoshop CS3 and CS4 on Intel-Macs. It works with 8bit and 16bit RGB and grayscaled images. You must define the path to FocalBlade in your installed graphic application. This path is, by default, C:\Program Files\FocalBlade. For this review, I´ve installed FocalBlade as a plug-in for Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. FocalBlade will offer you to run in Novice mode the first time you use it, as it´s easier to learn how it works when working in this mode. The plug-in will do only automatic sharpening when running in this mode. In the Expert Mode you will need to manually select the area to be sharpened. You will be able to select several levels of sharpening, blur, focus, deblur, as well as edges methods. You can choose to preview the results automatically, turn split view on or off, or adjust the preview to the window. By pressing the OK button, you will go back to the original application, with the changes in the image already applied. Beware, the demo version leaves watermarks over the image.
- It´s a nice plug-in for enhancing your photos.
- Most programs already have an efficient sharpening tool. The demo is unusable, as it leaves watermarks everywhere.
